On a shy evening, I was prepping to bake my favorite chocolate cake. I must have followed this recipe a dozen times but somehow hearing Ranveer Brar’s banter and random aunties make sooji cakes on a kadhai kinda helps me validate my recipe.

So here I am in the middle of the process following my handwritten notes step by step. As my batter looks rather thick I recollect my observations from the youtube binge and wallow in self-doubt. “I messed up my notes I guess”. Slightly frustrated I pick up my pen to make edits and I spot this note in a different ink from another time,

“Don’t get tempted to go extra. Trust me! You’ve got this”.

That brought a huge smile to my face. I was so happy at that self-affirmation that I didn’t care about the cake or how it would turn out to be. With confidence, I prepped my batter and put it in the oven to cook.

The cake came out perfect!

A major life lesson was learned that day. We obsess way too much about following the perfect recipe and getting this “ideal” output. But It feels so unreal to identify me with this process of subjective reality!

If all creations are an inspired product, I’m not being fair by identifying myself with the work I do or the art I make. My identity lies within me. In those self-affirmations, In my lessons, In my weaknesses and strengths, and most importantly -
I’m identified by my confidence to trust in my unique journey.

So remember, You are your secret ingredient to success and happiness. Look within — read between the lines — those self-affirmations are ready to treat you with your favorite dessert! ❤
